Durak, card game

1. The attacker plays a card; the defender must beat it or pick it up.
2. To beat a card, play a higher one in its suit — or any trump, unless the attacking card is itself a trump.
3. A successful defense gives you the next attack; failing means taking the cards and skipping your turn.
4. After each round, the attacker draws from the deck first, then the defender.
5. Once the deck is empty, the first player out of cards wins — the one still holding cards loses.

Durak, card game is a two-player card game that is hugely popular across Russia and the former Soviet countries. The name means "fool", and that's what the last player still holding cards is called. The attacker lays down a card and the defender must beat it with a higher card in that suit or with a trump — a trump can only be beaten by a higher trump. A defender who can't beat the attack has to pick the cards up. After each round both players draw back up from the deck, attacker first. Once the deck runs out, the first player to empty their hand wins. Play the computer or an online opponent. Saving your trumps for the last few tricks is the classic winning habit.
