About Pillar checkers, duel
Pillar checkers, duel keeps the core capture-by-jumping mechanic of standard checkers but scatters pillar-shaped obstacles across the board that block and redirect your jumps. A capture that would be simple on an open checkers board might be impossible here if a pillar sits in the landing square, forcing you to route your pieces around obstacles rather than jumping in the most direct line available. That changes how you read the board: instead of just tracking your opponent's pieces, you have to account for which paths the pillars leave open before committing to an advance. Pieces that would normally be vulnerable can end up protected simply because no legal jump can reach them past an obstacle, which shifts a lot of standard checkers instinct. It is a checkers duel where terrain matters just as much as piece position.
