Starfield Mancala Kalah is the ancient counting game Mancala set in space: sow stars around the board, earn extra turns and capture to fill your galaxy.
Falls under: Strategy — this game trains strategic planning.
How to play Starfield Mancala Kalah
- Tap one of your six wells at the bottom to pick up all its stars.
- The stars are sown one per well, counter-clockwise, into your galaxy but not your opponent's.
- End your move in your own galaxy to take another turn.
- End in an empty well on your side to capture that star and all the stars in the well opposite.
- When one side runs out of stars, the remaining stars go to their owners; the fuller galaxy wins.
About Starfield Mancala Kalah
Starfield Mancala Kalah is a space-themed version of Kalah, the most popular form of Mancala, one of the oldest families of board games in the world. Instead of seeds or stones you move stars. You have six small wells along the bottom of the board and a large store, your galaxy, on the right; your opponent has the same on the other side. On your turn you pick up all the stars from one of your wells and drop them one at a time into the following wells, counter-clockwise, including your own galaxy but never your opponent's. Finish in your galaxy and you move again; finish in an empty well on your side and you capture the stars across from it. Because every move is about counting, it is a great way to practise number sense and planning ahead. The menu keeps a record of your games and a rank that grows as you win.
