About Cyvasse: Chess ice and flame

Cyvasse: Chess ice and flame reskins the chess format around two rival fantasy armies, ice and flame, without abandoning the piece-by-piece strategic planning that chess is built on. Each side's pieces carry their own movement patterns tied to the ice-or-flame theme, so learning how your army's pieces behave — and how the opposing army's differ — is the first real step before any deeper strategy comes into play. From there, the game still rewards the fundamentals that make chess variants work: controlling key squares, avoiding pieces left exposed to capture, and thinking a few moves ahead before committing to an exchange. Because the two armies are not simply mirror images of each other, matches can feel asymmetric in a way standard chess never does, with different pieces creating different threats depending on which side you play.
