Gala: Farm chess

1. Pawns move diagonally toward the center; once there, they can step one square in any direction.
2. Bishops move diagonally in the corners and straight in the center; rooks do the opposite.
3. Bishops and rooks can only capture by crossing the border between the corner and central zones.
4. A king steps one square in any direction.
5. Win by capturing both enemy kings or placing two of your kings on the central squares.

Gala: Farm chess is an old board game with an unusual shape to its strategy. The board is divided into corner zones and a central zone, and pieces change how they move depending on where they stand: a bishop moves diagonally in the corners but straight in the middle, while a rook does the opposite. Captures are only possible when a piece crosses the line between the corner and central zones, which makes that border the most important place on the board. Each side has two kings, and you win either by capturing both enemy kings or by getting two of your own onto the four central squares. Play the computer, a friend on one device or an online opponent.
